Royal Children's Hospital

BOVIS - Lend Lease

In 2011 we were extremely fortunate to have our students participate in the BOVIS development of the new Royal Children's Hospital. Students were given the opportunity of gaining further employment after this program with many students gaining apprenticeships in plumbing, electrician, plastering and/or painting

This 'work-related' program built up a student's nominal hours towards their VCAL or Pre-VCAL certificates. But more importantly, it gave them a very realistic understanding of work in the 'real world'. Students needed to be there on time, be appropriately attired, and work a standard 8-hour working day and being aware of the importance of good 'personal learning habbits' i.e. getting enough sleep, eating properly, punctuality etc.
