Here's what some of our past/present students have to say...

Why our students like KCHS...

Kensington Community High School has helped me to look towards my future by making me realize that the decisions I make now will determine my future. Before coming to KCHS I had nothing to do, I didn’t know where I was heading. I lacked in education and wasn’t eager to learn. I knew for me to make changes, I had to “want” things to change. That’s why I started at KCHS. The staff helped me learn more about what I already knew, and things that I didn’t. I love my sport, even when sport wasn’t on my timetable; I made an effort to ask teachers if I could do extra sport, they were really cool like that, now I play every Wednesday. I like KCHS, it’s a cool place to be.

Where are they now? The success stories of past students

I first started at KCHS in Year 7 during 2006. After finishing primary school there was no suitable mainstream school that would accept me for what I am, as we all do have different learning needs we need to overcome. KCHS changed my life, striving towards future goals
and because of that I am now studying year 12 at a mainstream school.  The dedication, one on one and the respect given by all the staff at KCHS is impecable thanks to all.

After attending a lot of mainstream schools throughout my life, I successfully completed my VCE at KCHS in 2009 as a mature aged student. With the one-on-one attention that I received from the teachers due to small class sizes, I was able to apply myself better and was able to receive the attention that I needed in relation to my work ethics. While at KCHS I undertook a VETiS course and gained a Certificate II in Community Service Work. Because of this class I was able to see that in the future I wanted to become a youth worker. From all the help from my teachers and peers I was able to apply for Victoria University in 2010 and I am now half way through a Bachelor of Arts in Youth Studies.
If it wasn’t for the positive atmosphere at KCHS, the support from the school and its services I don’t believe that I would have my year 12. THANKS! To everyone.

My time at KCHS was a new start for me. To begin with, I was a little unsure of the choice I had made to go there, but then the people I started meeting were great. The teachers were amazing, they helped me with difficulties that I had at the time. The teachers were like mates who I could tell anything and they’d listen. They really helped me move on in my life by getting me back into a mainstream school to further my education. If it wasn’t for KCHS, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Thanks KCHS.

Hi my name is Rebecca and I’m a successful past student who completed year 12 at KCHS.
Kensington is a small school, which is really good because you get more one on one time with the teachers if you are stuck on something, or you just need someone to talk to.
Before I started at Kensington I went to a mainstream school and hated it! I got picked on, bullied and never wanted to go to school, then I started at KCHS and I was happy, everyone treated each other the same and there is a lot of respect for our needs. I actually liked coming into school each day. I am currently studying Certificate III in Children's Services and love it!
I would love to say a BIG thank you to all the staff at KCHS for helping me successfully complete year 12! I couldn’t have done it with out you :)
