Student Engagment & Wellbeing
Pastoral Support
KCHS welfare staff work in conjunction with young people, external support services and families to develop individualised behaviour support plans which facilitate positive changes in the young person's life. We assume a holistic approach to managing changes in such behaviours and believe that ownership of any change rests with the young person.
We do our best to keep the students in the classroom. We understand that students may experience trouble staying focused in class. The STAR Program (Stop, Think, Act, Review) allows the student to leave the room to speak with the social welfare team to discuss the issue in class. Students then consult with the classroom teacher after completing the STAR behaviour management plan to re-enter the room to continue participating.
